This week, I am offering a sneek peek from my first 1Night Stand, Senator, Mine, published by Decadent Publishing. After you’ve read it, please click on the banner above and go to the list of authors participating this Sunday!
Eleanor adjusted her pack on her shoulders and stood at the curb, waiting to cross the Via dei Fori Imperiali. The crumbled ruins of the Roman Forum spread out on the opposite side of the road like shell fragments scattered along the shore after a violent storm. She clutched her newly acquired treasure and joined the horde of tourists sweeping across the road in a giant swarming wave as drivers tried to skim past without hitting anyone. People, pointing and posing alongside the entrance to the ruins, clamored and chatted.
For a moment, she wished she had stayed longer in the little shop. At least it was quiet. And much cooler. She closed her eyes and squeezed the ring, taking comfort in its smoothness. Darius. She’d have to research the senator when she got back to the hotel. For now, she had to figure out if she could go through with her hasty 1Night Stand commitment. A night to remember forever was the promise, but was it the right thing to do? She hadn’t expected a match to happen so quickly.
She turned to face the past and stepped onto the stone walkway that meandered through the ruins. The Forum sprawled before her. Rome, its glory crumbled around her like old dreams, beckoned her closer. Her relationship with Peter hadn’t lasted long enough to make its mark on the world. Not a pebble remained of their shared glory. Had it been a mirage? Or a mistake? To invest so much in something so new felt out of place here in the Eternal City.
Yet the powerful Rome had fallen, too, and left its secrets scattered along the Via Sacra. If such a nation couldn’t stand the test of time, how could she expect love to last past a fleeting moment? What right had she to demand more?
Her time in Rome had become a therapy session.
A laughing couple jostled her as they passed, oblivious. The woman twirled a single red rose. The 1Night Stand encounter was just what she needed. No one would ever have to know.

Blurb: Hockey player Jason Monroe lives a double life—star defenseman and soon-to-be Olympian on the ice and closeted gay man outside the rink. A serious relationship is out of the question, and Jason makes do with anonymous sex in barroom bathrooms, not willing to take the chance on coming out as gay in a decidedly macho sport.
Advisor to the US Olympic hockey team Patrick Parker knows a thing or two about being a professional hockey player who’s not out. He’s fifteen years older than Jason, and when he senses the sexy younger man is interested, he knows he shouldn’t give in to the attraction. The two men can’t keep their hands off each other, though, and with each heated encounter it gets harder to hide their relationship. Then their world blows up around them, forcing them into the limelight. Will their love survive or be put on ice?
Jason stared at the other man, the lust burning him where he stood. He moved even closer, like a moth to a flame.
What the fuck am I doing?
Apparently Patrick didn’t know either, because his expression became alarmed. “What?”
I can’t stop.
“I need to do this.”
Not giving Patrick a chance to react to his words, Jason grabbed him, one hand palming the back of Patrick’s head as Jason’s other arm snaked around the man’s waist, pulling him into Patrick’s rock-hard body. It was obvious the man kept in shape, despite his playing days being over, and a tortured moan escaped before he could stop it. Jason dived into Patrick’s mouth as the passion flared, melting him from the inside out. He hadn’t kissed a man in years, and he realized how much he’d missed it as the kiss went on and on, neither man willing to let the other go.
He could feel Patrick’s cock as it lined up with his, and even through layers of clothing Jason felt the heat pouring off the other man. It made him want to submit to anything Patrick desired, which confused him. Honestly Jason couldn’t remember the last time he’d had a man’s dick in his mouth, but right now he’d give just about anything to suck Patrick off.
Patrick pushed them backward until they crashed into the wall, never letting their lips separate as he took control of the kiss. With a growl, the older man reached down and cupped Jason’s ass, pulling their cocks even closer and rubbing them together. Jason turned his head to the side with a gasp to break the kiss before he passed out, but Patrick kept at him, scoring his teeth down Jason’s neck to his pulse point.
“So fucking hot.”

FROST is the third book in the Sleepy Hollow series–be sure to check out the others: LIGHTNING, and THUNDER available at all the usual places, and at Decadent Publishing here.
Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.
Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow, channeling his lustful impulses into his art—until his muse deserts him and his temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.
When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle?
Dagney followed her sister’s glance, and her heart flipped like a gymnast unable to nail a vault. Darkness swathed the gallery with the exception of the lights above or below each of the paintings. The large man emerging from the shadows held her rapt. Waves of pure, unadulterated lust smacked her with such force she didn’t even see Lily and Campbell leave. The blast of raw desire crumpled her to the floor. Her gaze remained riveted on the tall hunk of ferocious male stalking toward her, radiating undiluted carnality. He set something carefully on the floor and grasped her by the elbows, his touch surprisingly gentle when he lifted her to her feet.
“I’m Maxwell Raines.”
Yeah. No kidding. Who else could a guy so hot, so studly, possibly be?
She told herself not to swoon. Ordered herself not to swoon. But, Goddess, that rumbling voice. More potent than a train barreling over the tracks. And he smelled so good. Sinfully masculine. A bit of musk, a bite of pine, an essence of dark, smoky nights. Sexy scents. Reminiscent of tangled satin sheets that had been given a good work-out.
Her legs turned to rubber, and she doubted they’d support her on their own. She’d be mortified if he’d have to scrape her puddled body up again. But he hadn’t yet relaxed his grip. Could she bullshit her way through the meeting without collapsing? “You’re late,” she said.
“I’m never late.”
“Well, the party’s over, Mr. Raines.” She waved a hand around the empty room.
“Depends on your perspective.”
“You’re big on perspective, are you?”
“I’m a painter.” A brief shrug accompanied his blunt words. “Obvious connection.”
“Right. But as you can see, everyone’s left.”
“You haven’t.” He gazed down at her, a black brow flaring. “And you’re what I’m here for.”
Taryn will pick one winner from the comments to win chocolate and swag! Good luck~
And now you’re an adult…
Thank you so much, Kerry, for having me as a guest on your blog! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Hello everyone! It’s been a busy week for me with two releases, but I’m having a lot of fun. One of my new releases is Accidental Romance, which is a new adult contemporary romance. This book is different than the stories I generally write, as it is a sweet romance rather than erotic romance and erotica, and there are no aliens, or any aspects of sci-fi in the story at all.
After I contracted Accidental Romance as part of Decadent Publishing’s new Challenge series, I had a lot of readers and other authors asking me about the New Adult genre. Many had never heard of it before. And the other stories from The Challenge series are geared toward adults. While independent authors have been writing stories that would be considered New Adult for years, it has risen to the spotlight after St. Martin’s Press hosted a contest for books to market to both YA readers and Adult readers. Thus, New Adult fills in that gap.
New Adult stories deal with characters in their early twenties trying to find their path in life, away from their parents, and learning to deal with the pressures of everyday adult life. It’s a big change for many 20-somethings. I remember all the stress of those years, and like my high school years, I wouldn’t want to live through them again. Though I met my husband in those years, moved in with him, and became pregnant with my first child.
In Accidental Romance, Leanne still lives at home after finished college, but is getting ready to take over the family farm. But a tragic accident stands to ruin all of her hopes and dreams of the future. She had even bigger struggles to deal with as she tries to find her place in life. Lucky for her, she has friends and family to help her in her everyday struggles.
Accidental Romance Blurb:
At twenty-two, Leanne Declan has graduated from college and hopes to take over the family farm until a tragic accident changes her life forever. Unable to do the simplest everyday chores, she must depend on her family and friends as she learns to face life’s challenges. But when her fears threaten to destroy her future, can an unexpected love be strong enough to help her dreams come true?
A million needles pierced her wrist. She had to get away from the fire. Leanne flicked open her eyes, screaming, longing for the agony to stop.
White walls surrounded her. Machines beeped. Taking in the new scenery, she closed her mouth, the pain forgotten. Bags filled with clear liquids as well as blood hung from a metal pole. She followed the tubes from the bags into her left hand. Was that where the burn came from? She glanced at the other arm, the end of which was wrapped in thick bandages. The image of spinning blades and her mangled flesh flashed before her eyes. She screamed again, tears falling down her cheeks. This can’t be happening.
Bodies rushed into the room, many in scrubs. With her vision blurred, she didn’t recognize anyone. All strangers. She was in the foreign place by herself. A nightmare. Has to be.
“Shh, calm down, sweetie. You’ll be okay.”
A familiar voice. She glanced to her other side to see her mom standing beside her, her eyes glassy. She held her hand, but Leanne couldn’t feel it, only the throbbing which had returned to her other one, the one that was…gone? She groaned, turning on her side, and pulled her knees up to her chest.
“Mom, is it really…?”
She brushed her fingers over her forehead. “Don’t worry about it right now. You need to rest.”
“It hurts so bad.”
“I know.” Her mother stroked her face again. “But the nurses will help it go away.”
“Leanne,” one of the nurses hovering around her said. “I want you to take deep breaths and count backward from ten.”
“Ten.” She sucked in air and cried out in agony.
Between clenched teeth, she continued. Anything to stop the pain. “Nine.”
Ice traveled through her veins. “Eight.”
The throbbing slowly ebbed away. Seven.
Darkness swept over her and pulled her down with it.

Today is a great day! It’s release day for Tiffany’s third book in her “Files from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency” series! LYCAN UNLEASHED is my favorite so far–the hero is just, sssiiiiggggghhhhh….
Detective Astrid Holmes is a sensitive, a human capable of feeling the energy of otherworlders. When she is dispatched to the horrific murder scene of a local vampire, she expects it to be just another day on the job. But when evidence is stolen on her watch, she is removed—not only from the investigation, but from her job as a member of the Chicago police department’s paranormal unit.
Astrid’s only hope of reinstatement lies with her ex co-worker and almost-lover, Lycan Mason Sanderson. But convincing the OWEA agent to let her assist with the investigation isn’t nearly as difficult as staying alive when the murderer realizes that Astrid may hold the key to unlocking his identity.
Fighting to take down a killer could have deadly consequences for Astrid and Mason, but working together puts their already fragile relationship in jeopardy.
Please go check it out! I promise, it is a great story!
While you are at it, check out her author page: TIFFANY ALLEE
Happy book birthday, my friend!!!
has been very successful, wordage-wise. I am just shy of 14K in 5 days and I already feel like my word count muscles are growing. I’d like to get to the point where I can switch it up and work on a couple projects a day, but that may be a pipe dream. But one thing is for sure…I am aiming to write every single day. At least some words. At least one thousand. yeah.
I have mostly organized my fabrics, but I still have a pile of crafting stuff in my office. I could do the easy thing and toss them all in my back closet (where a ton more supplies live), but I am trying to be good and put everything up.
I’m also writing a review–so much fun. I love to read (of course) and writing out a review just adds to the pleasure. I have some highly recommended books on my TBR shelf! Stay tuned for links to Satin Sheets Reviews when I post.
I’m ready for writing group this week. We only have two submissions, but it feels great to be starting out the new year. I see the vista in the distance. 🙂
Later this week, I am escaping to the beach where it is quiet and peaceful. I need outta this office. I’ll post some lovely pics of the ocean when I get there so that you all can have a mini vacation, too. And yes, I’ll be adding to the word count while there.
I’ve been trying to get organized. Yeah, it is a constant struggle. I’m always trying. Something about the new year closing in makes me feel like I am ready to reset, start over, etc.
I have my writing/blogging word count spreadsheet in usable condition. I am stoked to know that I can start monitoring exactly how many words go on the page. And how many don’t.
My desk is almost clear. I sanitize it weekly, but since Christmas, it has gotten a bit piled up. It’s on my list today.
My sewing counters are almost clear. I sorted and put away lots and lots of fabric. I even reorganized some shelving so I can sew more efficiently. yay!
I got a new storage ottoman for my office. Woot. It is super nice, and I have been pondering what I will store inside. Maybe my 16 year old…
My art supplies and such are pretty well organized. If you don’t count the huge walk-in closet that I refuse to look in because there is so much mess. Probably a zillion dollars in supplies, too. Ugh. I am pretending that when that door is closed, that closet does not exist in this plane.
I figure I have today and tomorrow to finish up. I love heading into a New Year. I wish I could get as excited with the beginning of each month!
Happy New Year to you all!
The End of the World…
The winner is….
APRIL HOLGATE! I’ve sent a message to you…
thanks everyone for participating!!
Thanks for stopping by! Please make sure you hit all the stops–lots and lots of fabulous giveaways!
I wanted to share a little history about the Christmas tree. There are some really interesting traditions associated with evergreens. I think I’ll let my 1Night Stand heroes explain:
First up is Darius, from Senator, Mine (set in Ancient Rome):
We celebrate winter solstice here in Rome. Lots of feasting, dancing, and general partying. We call the holiday Saturnalia and we even give gifts like coins, lamps, and baked sweets! We also decorate our houses with greens, and we use lots of lamps to symbolize coming out of the darkness.
Next, Carrick, from Druid, Mine (set in Ireland during the later times of Druids):
We also celebrate the winter solstice with rituals and dancing. Fire is a symbol of life to us, and we use it in most of our rituals, along with herbs and trees. We especially like to use mistletoe and holly this time of year. In our homes, we bind evergreen branches above the doorways to protect us from spirits.
Lastly, here is Seti, from Pharaoh, Mine (set in Ancient Egypt):
You might be surprised to learn that we Egyptians had a similar culture of using evergreens at winter solstice. Though we don’t have the traditional pines, we use green date palm boughs in our homes. These fresh green branches symbolize life to us.
You can click any of the thumbnails below to read the blurbs and/or buy these books.
For my giveaway, I will offer a $20 Amazon gift certificate to a random person who answers this question: What is your favorite Christmas decoration? If you don’t celebrate Christmas, then what is your favorite holiday decoration? *Please* leave your email address so I can contact you!
